Overheard

Privacy

Short version: we collect as little as we can and delete it on a schedule.

Who we are

Overheard is run by Mateusz Woskowicz, osiedle Kamionki 52, 32-566 Alwernia, Poland (NIP 6282282230), the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: hello@getoverheard.com.

Forms

Report requests, the survey at the end of a report and streamer opt-outs are collected with Tally (Tally BV, Belgium, EU), which processes that data for us. We only ask for what the form needs.

Emails

Emails about your request and report (a confirmation of the request, a note when the game you asked about is ready or, if it never gets enough streams, that there will be no report, the link to the report, one follow-up question, and after Next Fest one link to a newer version if your game's report was updated) are sent with Loops (Astrodon Corporation, USA), which processes that data for us: your email address, the game's name and the link in the message. We send newsletters only to people who ticked the separate marketing box, and every newsletter has an unsubscribe link. Transfers to the USA are covered by the safeguards in Loops' data processing agreement.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe and, as merchant of record, Link (Sold through Link, LLC), under their own privacy notices; your card details never reach us. We receive your email, the game you bought, the amount, the country and whether the payment went through.

Visitors

This site sets no cookies. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics (Cloudflare, Inc.), which processes that data for us: it records the page, referrer, browser type and country, stores no cookies and does not fingerprint or follow you across sites. We only see totals. Private report pages are never counted. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are useful (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)).

Developers who request or buy a report

We use your email and the game link you send to handle your request and deliver the report (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)). Three days after delivery we send one email asking what the report changed; we have a legitimate interest in knowing whether the service works (art. 6(1)(f)), and you can ignore it or ask us not to send it. Newsletters go only to people who ticked the separate marketing box. We delete requests without marketing consent 12 months after the report is delivered. If you agree to it in the survey, we may show your answer about what the report changed on this site, with the name you gave or without one (GDPR art. 6(1)(a)); you can withdraw that consent at any time by replying to any of our emails or writing to hello@getoverheard.com, and we take the quote down.

Streamers

We obtain public Twitch recordings and channel details from Twitch for games a developer asked about and for a small number of indie games we pick for our public radar. We process the channel name and id, the spoken commentary, its transcript with timestamps, and the short quotes chosen for a report. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)): giving developers feedback about their game. Audio is transcribed on our own machine; transcript text is analysed with an AI service (Anthropic, USA), and reports are read by the developers who buy them. We do not use voices to identify anyone and do not profile streamers. You can object at any time on the For streamers page, and we then remove your streams.

  • Audio: deleted right after transcription.
  • Transcripts: deleted after 30 days.
  • Reports: short quotes, kept at a private link until the developer or the speaker asks for removal.
  • Public game pages and the radar: counts and short issue titles only, never names, quotes or VOD links.

Your rights

Anyone whose data we hold can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or a copy in a portable format, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and withdraw consent they gave. Write to hello@getoverheard.com. You can also complain to the Polish data protection authority (UODO).
